So . . . the parents really like fish. They especially like to fry dried fish on random Saturday or Sunday mornings. If you know anything about dried fish, you know that the smell is not pleasant. With that said, the smell of dried fish frying is really not pleasant. The parents know I hate it—so when they decide they absolutely can't go another day without it (ha), they appease me by shutting the kitchen door, lighting scented candles, and spraying all forms of air freshener. Over the years, though, I’ve realized something. Smells from the kitchen get trapped in my room (no matter what anyone does)—and they happen to especially like my closet. *sigh*
While on vacation this past weekend, I packed a whole bunch of stuff because I like to be ready for whatever occasion might arise on a trip. The first night I was there, I realized it was a bit chilly so I put on my light jacket . . . only to be overwhelmed by the smell of fried, dried fish. *heavy, heavy sigh* I tossed it into a plastic bag with disgust. The next evening, I wanted to wear a v-neck top because I acquired a bit of an awkward tan line . . . but after some excessive sniffage of my luggage contents, I realized that 60% of my clothes had the same dreaded smell. *sigh*
Somehow, I made it through the weekend. But the past few days now, I can’t leave the house without being paranoid and sniffing my clothes like crazy. Has this always been the case? Have I always walked around smelling like dried fish?? I’m very sensitive to smell, but I also often have a stuffy nose. So, if you were ever around me when I smelled like an anchovy . . . I truly truly apologize. :( I wonder if Febreeze comes out in a pocket size . . .

i probably smell like fish too, but whatevs. i embrace it. eau de poisson!
I sometimes like the taste of fish, Wes. As long as it doesn't taste fishy. Haha. But the plastic bag thing is a great idea. Thanks!
Haha-- thanks for the support, Sarah. :}
Hey At! I'm the total opposite. I love the smell of deep fried fish. MmmMmmMm.....
Haha. That's why I love you, Pam.
Actually, now that I think about it-- there's one type of dried fish the parents fry that I actually like. They're small and smoked, and they kind of taste like fish bacon. Mmm.
I agree, I don't like the smell of friend fish. All the smells from my kitchen RISE up to my room. I am also sure all my clothes smell.... sigh.
I am super sensitive to smell so if I smell something I DOn't like on my clothes I get really agitated. It is very bad.
They must have mini febreeze stuff....
i have another issue. what about smells that get caught in your hair.
like... you shower, blow dry your hair, and then someone in the house decides to make kimchi smelling food! AHHHHH
I found out the hard way that I smell like fish - from my locker partners and girls.
Also, my grandmother used to ferment blocks of soybean in our basement which was really a smell you have to experience to understand (the mold is supposedly a delicacy)
Haha. Hannah and Rich, you guys crack me up-- and make me feel all warm inside. Thank you. :}
last week my clothes (my sweatshirt, and jacket) smelled a lot like fish because my mom went a little too fish happy. I guess the smell was really potent because one of my students ran up to me, pinched his nose and asked, "WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE FISH IN HERE??" I shrugged my shoulders and went on with my lesson.... :(
Hahahaha. Oh, Becky. How I love you...even when you smell like fish. :*]
I totally remember when we were in younger and I'd come over and your dad would be cutting up a fish in the kitchen. I remember the smells like it was yesterday. Ahhh... George.
