01.31 - Still Blah

01.30 - Weight Gain & Insomnia

In the last few days, I've come to several realizations:
1) I have exceeded my max weight (ever). I am not happy about this.
2) I cannot sleep at night. I am annoyed by this.
3) I do not enjoy food nearly as much as I used to. I am disheartened by this.

WEDNESDAY, January 30th
Breakfast

+ 2 slices of whole grain wheat bread with 4 spritzes each of ICBINB spray
+ mug of coffee with skim milk and Splenda
Lunch
+ cup of miso soup
+ 6 spicy tuna rolls and 2 nigiri pieces

+ piece of filet mignon stuffed with spinach, cheese, and garlic (yummm)
+ piece of filet mignon swimming in red onion wine sauce (also yum)
+ a scoop of spinach mashed potatoes (nearly neon green and delicious)
+ a few pieces of Argentinian style potatoes
+ 1/2 a piece of flan with caramel sauce on top

01.29 - Small Steps

So, in an effort to motivate myself to stop buying breakfast and coffee in the morning, I bought a loaf of hearty wheat bread, "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray, skim milk, and a cheesy 99-cent Valentine's Day mug from the Walgreens on the corner. That's my small step for breakfast. Now I gotta work on lunch. :\

01.28 - Tired of Food

I've decided that I consume way too much food-- and that I'm very often frivolous about it. Tonight, I actually felt tired of food. Shocking, I know. But yeah. I would really like to cut down on the amount of food I buy and eat. This will also be a part of my training (which I have yet to begin). I'm going to have to start next week, though, because I planned a few dinners for this week already. *sigh* It makes me sad when eating starts to feel like a chore.

MONDAY, January 28th
Breakfast
+ blueberry bagel with cream cheese
+ medium blueberry coffee with skim milk and Splenda
Lunch
+ 1/2 cup of poblano corn chowder (eh)
+ 1/2 turkey on pretzel bread

+ yummy salad (that I created myself-- grapes and cherry tomatoes and boiled eggs, oh my!)

+ two pieces of avocado cheese quesadillas
+ jumbo lumb crab cake burger, minus most of the bun (yummy yummy)
+ glass of Arnold Palmer with orange juice (delicious)
+ several sips of iced tea with pomegranate juice (also quite good)
+ several spoonfuls of strawberry cream puff with vanilla ice cream

01.26 & 27 - Let the Training Begin

My mom looked at me the other day and said, "You go out to eat too much. I'm surprised you're not fatter." I took that as a compliment . . . I think. But this inspired me to finally weigh myself after two months, and I was not pleased to find out that I have gained about 4 pounds. My physical fitness has gone significantly downhill. To further prove this point, I had to evacuate a building the other day because the fire alarm went off-- so I, along with a whole mess of other people, proceeded to take the stairwell down. I went from floor 15 to floor 3 at a very slow pace over a long period of time-- and I was sore for three days after. That is quite sad. So yeah. My girlfriends and I decided to participate in an 8K run in a couple months and they've demanded that I keep up. So I've decided to (hopefully) start "training" this week. Wish me luck . . .

01.25 - Easing Back Into It

I didn't want to overdo it today, so I had a healthy breakfast and a light, but still pleasing lunch (the cheese puffs, at least). So, of course, I treated myself to a nice, substantial dinner. All is right with the world.

01.24 - Poor Tummy

I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, so I decided to add an extra shot to my espresso beverage this morning. Not a good idea. I feel like the barista might have accidentally added more espresso to it than I asked for-- because not only did I still feel sleepy, but I was restless and jittery the rest of the day as well. Oh-- and the combination of all that junk food from last night plus a whole mess of espresso did not help the tummy at all. I struggle. :\

+ two and a half mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce (mm..cheese)
+ a handful of aged white cheddar puffy things (yum)
+ a few handfuls of crunchy Cheetos (mm...cheeese)
+ a Kahlua/low-fat latte ice cream shake (yummy!)

It was ridiculously cold this weekend-- yet I feel like I spent more time outside than inside. That's OK, though, because I ate pretty well and bundled up like crazy. So yeah. I'm torn between wanting to go back to working out already and wanting to store as much body fat as possible. :\ That's the problem with this time of the year. Dreary winter = blah fattie me.

I tried to be healthy this morning. But I realized something. Oatmeal makes me feel funny. I mean, I like it and I obviously eat it—but it makes me feel drowsy . . . almost like I’ve taken cough medicine and it’s fighting off all my germs. Only, it’s more like fat medicine and it’s doing heavy-duty cleaning on my arteries. *shrug* My friend thinks someone probably just laced my oatmeal with tryptophan. Ha.

I had the strangest day today. I felt no hunger or cravings for anything. The only reason I ate what I did was because I made myself—thinking it would return me to normalcy. Nope. It only turned me into a beginner alcoholic. *laugh* I never crave alcohol, but for some reason I had this incredible urge to down a bottle of wine tonight. I didn’t quite make it that far, but yeeaaah. I hope this weird appetite doesn’t continue. I like food. :\

I was hanging out with three female cousins (S, J, and K) recently and two somehow got into an argument about how little the other eats. It went something like:

S: Where should we go for dinner? (looks at J) It'll be hard to decide because you eat like a bird.
J: No way. You're the one that eats like a bird!
K: Stop fighting. You both eat like a bird!
Me: (witnessing the argument and waiting for someone to call me a bird)
S: Why don't we just go t---
Me: Wait a minute! How come no one said I eat like a bird?!
S, J, K: (shifty eyes)
K: Well . . . you don't really eat like a bird. (pause) You eat like a human.

Ha! Thanks, dear cousins. ;) Now I must strive to be a bird . . .

Wednesday is a good day, right? I mean, it's in the middle of the week which means two workdays are half over and there are only two more to go. Great, right? Eh. Not when you've been off for over a week, spent time with your favorite people, bummed around a lot, and suddenly have to go back to the "real world" on a day that feels very much like a Monday. No wonder everything seemed a little bit off today.

+ a few sips of a grande non-fat "skinny" (which means sugar-free now) vanilla latte
+ 1/3 of a grande non-fat "skinny" mocha latte (absolutely disgusting-- tasted like bad liquor and/or cough syrup)

+ 1/2 a bowl of chili with cheese on top and hot sauce poured on (nothing could save the blandness of this chili)
+ quarter of a rotisserie chicken (going along with the theme of the meal, blah)
+ 1/8 of a BBQ chicken quesadilla (is it even possible to ruin a quesadilla?!! it is for this place...)

+ a scoop of steamed vegetables

It's been an overly eventful last two weeks, so I unfortunately have not been able to post anything. There was a lot of good food, of course, but not much I seem to remember right now.

The only thing that comes to mind is a few pieces of a gingerbread house I made with my cousin's two kids. I've never made a gingerbread house before, so I thought I would share this experience with them. I mixed the dough together, cut out the pieces, baked them, got all this yummy candy, and pretty much prepared everything perfectly. *sigh* Sadly, it's not as easy as one would think. The beautiful gingerbread house I envisioned ended up a gingerbread shack (due to lack of stability, lack of icing, and messy fingers). :\ Oh well. It still remains a fond memory in my heart (and stomach). We'll just have to make a better one this year. ;) Happy 2008, everyone.
